Christmas Day, 12/25/2012! (Day 3)
So we awoke Christmas morning to a little something for everyone in their ski “stocking”. Nothing too much, just a few sweets and some little toys to entertain us on our long trips…..overall, kind of a let down….let us not forget we already had our Christmas before we left. But we all quickly got excited…(must admit the word “glacier” slightly freaked me out, and I had thoughts of insane steepness and wondered when I last got my skis sharpened) to make our way to Hintertux Glacier (Hintertux Gletscher)! Another short walk and we can catch a coach bus that will take us about a 45 minute ride up long winding roads to this ski area.

Okay, unfortunately, it was very, very windy. And we did ride a chair lift twice and had two nice short runs on unbelievably good snow! But that got old, so we had hot cocoa and waited for the line for the gondola to go down. We also enjoyed wifi!!!

The glacier proved to be a wonderful experience….of course some steep, but I was never skiing upside down or anything!
The snow conditions made it awesome!

Here is an area where we stopped and you could really see the depth of the glacier! Quite remarkable.

A view out the bus window on our way home. So amazing how the houses sit on such steep sides of the mountains.

Christmas Dinner….we went to a place that we had been before, but we did not get good service on Christmas at all…..we didn’t let it completey ruin our evening.

I had something called spaetzle(spätzle), with my pork strips. It is a traditional dish of the area, but I did not care for it. Was a pasta/noodle/faintly resembling gnocchi….not really sure, but not for me. Well…Merry Christmas 2012!

What a wonderful Christmas you had … Thanks you for sharing and happy 2013 .. All the best from sunny Florida !
I am living life in Sweded ‘vicariously’ through the Anderson family. Looks like you are enjoying the sights, sounds and culture of Scandinavia!! We are experiencing our FIRST big snowfall today. There IS school, so I’m sitting here awaiting our families to brave it and come to the Center!! All is well. Started back to knitting. Neck cowls are first on my list. You’d be proud of me, Rebecca!!! I will send a photo as I progress! Enjoy!!
